Clean-Up Accounting for
Brookings & Curry County Businesses

Brookings is Oregon's southernmost coastal city — a community built on commercial fishing, tourism, retail, and a growing retirement and healthcare economy. It is also a city where professional accounting services can be hard to find locally, and where small business owners often manage their own books until a tax deadline, a loan application, or a new accountant forces the issue.

ProfitWerx is a member of the Curry County Chamber of Commerce and has been providing clean-up and catch-up accounting to Brookings businesses . We work entirely remotely through QuickBooks Online or Xero, which means Brookings clients get access to professional bookkeeping cleanup without needing to travel inland or wait for a local provider. We assess the scope of your backlog, provide a flat-rate quote before any work begins, and deliver clean, accurate financials on a defined timeline.  Curry County's economy includes a significant number of fishing and maritime businesses, tourism and hospitality operations, and retail businesses — all with specific bookkeeping characteristics around seasonal cash flow, inventory, and cash transactions that we understand well.

At ProfitWerx, we work directly in your existing QuickBooks Online or Xero file. When we are done, you have the same file you started with — just accurate, organized, and ready to use.

What We Fix

Common Bookkeeping Problems We Fix for Brookings Businesses

The most common situations we encounter with Brookings and Curry County clients include bank accounts that have not been reconciled in months, transactions entered inconsistently or not at all, a Profit & Loss report that does not reflect actual business performance, duplicate entries from automated bank feeds, and cash transaction records that are incomplete or missing. We also frequently work with seasonal businesses — fishing operations, tourism-related businesses, and summer retail — where the books fall behind during the busy season and never get caught up.
Whatever the situation, the process is the same: a free assessment, a flat-rate quote, and a systematic cleanup.

How it Works

OUR clean up process

We keep it simple. Here is exactly what to expect from start to finish.

01

Free Assessment

A no-obligation conversation to understand how far behind you are, what software you use, and what you need the clean financials for. This takes 20–30 minutes and produces a firm flat-rate project quote before any work begins.

02

Cleanup & Reconciliation

We work directly in your QuickBooks Online or Xero file, you grant us accountant access to your QuickBooks Online or Xero file. No passwords shared — access is managed through the platform's built-in accountant portal. We go through the backlog period systematically — reconciling every account, correcting every error, and categorizing every transaction. We do not rush this step. Accuracy is the entire point.

03

Review & Walkthrough

When the cleanup is complete, we walk you through the results. You will see exactly what was corrected, what your financials look like now, and what we found along the way. No surprises. We communicate with you if we have questions.

04

Clean Handoff (or Stay On)

We deliver your clean financials in whatever format you need — reconciled QuickBooks file, exported reports for your CPA, or statements ready for your lender. If you want to keep your books clean going forward, ongoing monthly bookkeeping is available.

What You Get

At the end of every cleanup engagement, you receive:

  • Fully reconciled bank accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts for the entire backlog period
  • A corrected and organized chart of accounts tailored to your business

— Danielle Herinckx

Oregon Small Business Owner

"ProfitWerx was great to work with. James helped us catch up on one year of bookkeeping and was very patient and clear in explaining everything, especially since we have no accounting or bookkeeping background. He communicated throughout the process to ensure everything was done correctly, and his services were thorough, timely, and affordable for our small business. We were so impressed that we've decided to keep him on as our bookkeeper going forward. Highly recommend!"

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if my books are in really bad shape?

We have seen it all. There is no situation too disorganized for us to work with. The free assessment is specifically designed to evaluate the scope before any commitment is made.

  • Do I need to come to your office?

No. We work entirely remotely through QuickBooks Online or Xero's accountant access feature. You never need to drop off paperwork or come in for a meeting.

  • How long does a clean up take?

Most projects are completed within 2–4 weeks of receiving access. Larger backlogs may take 4–6 weeks. We provide a timeline estimate as part of your free assessment.

  • Do you work with any industry?

We work with most Brookings small business types — agriculture, construction, retail, healthcare, professional services, restaurants, and more. If you are unsure whether we are a fit, just ask.

  • What happens after clean up is done?

Once your books are clean, we offer ongoing monthly bookkeeping to keep them that way. Many Brookings clients transition to monthly bookkeeping after their cleanup project is complete.

  • Can you work with my existing CPA or Accountant?

Absolutely. Many cleanup clients have an existing CPA who handles tax filing but does not do day-to-day bookkeeping. We work alongside your CPA, deliver the clean file in whatever format they need, and can coordinate directly with them if that is helpful.

  • Do you work with businesses outside of Klamath Falls?

Yes. ProfitWerx serves small businesses throughout Oregon. We work entirely remotely and can handle cleanups for businesses anywhere in the state — from the coast to Central Oregon to Curry County.

  • What if I am not sure how far behind my books are?

That is exactly what the free assessment is for. You do not need a clear picture of the damage before reaching out — figuring that out together is the first step. Just tell us roughly when your books were last in good shape and we will take it from there.
